CHICAGO – Chicago State men's basketball head coach
Lance Irvin announced that
Jordan Polynice (Guard/Forward/San Clarita, Calif./East Los Angeles College) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Cougars men's basketball team for the 2020-21 season.
Polynice joins current East Los Angeles teammate
Levelle Zeigler as Huskies who are headed to Chicago to suit up for the Cougars. Additionally, rising senior
Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) spent time in the East Los Angeles College program.
During his sophomore season at East Los Angeles, Polynice started all 29 games in the Huskies historic 25-game win streak, leading the team to a 29-1 record and a berth in the CCCAA State Championship Elite Eight. As a result of his efforts during his sophomore campaign, he earned All-South Coast Honorable Mention accolades. Polynice spent his freshman season at North Dakota State College of Science.
Polynice averaged 7.5 points per game, while shooting 51.0 percent from the floor (78-of-153). The California native also added 4.0 rebounds per game. Polynice scored in double figures in nine games including a season-best 20 points in a win over La Harbor. Polynice grabbed a season-high eight rebounds to open the season in a win over Oxnard. An efficient shooter, Polynice shot 37 percent from long range (19-of-52) and connected on 81 percent (43-of-53) of his free throws.
Coach Irvin on Polynice
"Jordan is a player that I would call a "jack of all trades" at 6'6. Jordan is a very good defender and a hard worker. He has a nice offensive package which will allow me to play him at different perimeter positions. The sky is the limit for him. Jordan comes from a winning program and we are fortunate to have him attend Chicago State University."
