KALAMAZOO, Ill. - The Chicago State women's tennis team took the short trip to Kalamazoo, Michigan but couldn't find a way to knock off the Bronocs in non-conference action, falling 6-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Diana Borodina (Moscow, Russia), playing at No. 2 singles for the first time this season, made quick work of the Bronco's Gabriela Slavova, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Kristina Pukhaeva (Vladikavkaz, Georgia/No. 98 Public School) dropped her first set 6-2 but battled back against the Bronco's Femke Tjon-a-Joe but came up short dropping the second set 7-5.
The Cougars dropped the double point after the Bronocs won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Femke Tjon-a-Joe and Jeryn Jack defeated Pukhaeva and Borodina, 6-2 while Katarina Dukoc and
Susana Andres (Madrid, Spain) fell at No.3 doubles to Kristina Tiraspolsky and Valerie Riegraf also by a score of 6-2.
