EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Chicago State women's tennis team battled close in singles with four of the six singles matches going three sets, but fell, 6-1 to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Sunday morning.
Katarina Dukic posted a win for the Cougars at No. 5 singles.
After losing the doubles point, the Cougars went to work in singles. The Cougars took thee of the six first-sets, including a 6-0 first set victory by
Lizi Morogoshia at No. 4 singles.
Diana Borodina also won her first set at No. 3 singles, 6-4.
In a very competitive match at No. 5 singles, Dukic took the first set, 7-6 before SIUE's Caitlyn Sporing battled back to tie the match at 7-5. Dukic, won the third set tiebreaker, 1-0 to give the Cougars their lone win on the afternoon.
In the other matches that went three-sets, at No. 2
Katerina Drazic dropped the first set, 7-6 but tied it up with a 6-4 second set victory before falling in the tiebreaker, 1-0. Borodina won her first set 6-4 at No. 3 but dropped the next two, 3-6, 1-6 while Mogoshia took her first set 6-0 before dropping the next two, 4-6, 6-0.
