Dobrescu Leads Chicago State at Crusader Collegiate in Season Opener

CHARLESTON, Ind. – Chicago State men's golf was paced by senior Austin Dobrescu (Brandon, Canada/Vincent Massey) during its first tournament of the 2018-19 season here in the Crusader Collegiate, hosted by Valparaiso at the Chesterton Country Club.

After shooting an 81 in the first round, Dobrescu rebounded by carding a 73 in the second round and closed the tournament with a 72 in today's final round to finish with a combined score of 226 to finish in a tie for 27th place. He also shot three-under-par on par five scoring holes while producing six birdies over the two-day tournament.

Also competing in the tournament for CSU were seniors Adrian Torres (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. Gustavo Adolfo Becquer), Eduardo Falcon (Sabinas, Mexico/St. Anthony) and Ram Roque (Valencia City, Bukidnon, Philippines/Bukidnon Faith Christian School) along with junior newcomer Jorge Garzon (Bogata, Colombia/Gimnasio los Caobos).

The Green and White finished 13th in the team standings after recording a score of 985 (335-332-318) while tallying 11 birdies.

CSU returns to the links for its own Chi-Town Classic, held at Harborside Golf Course, on Oct 8-9.
