Andrews Earns Singles Win for Women’s Tennis in WAC Cluster against UMKC

Alana Andrews won her second singles match of the weekend today against UMKC
EDINBURG, Texas – Freshman Alana Andrews (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) earned a singles victory for the Chicago State women's tennis team as it fell to UMKC, 6-1, in the finale of the first Western Athletic Conference cluster this afternoon at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
UMKC won all three doubles flights to post an early 1-0 lead in the match before taking five of the six singles flights for the final margin.
 
Andrews posted a three-set win in the No. 6 flight over Grace Ball via scores of 6-2, 1-6 and 11-9 for the Cougars' lone point and her second singles victory over the weekend.
 
Senior Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) also had a big three-set battle at No. 4 against Yana Grechkina when she won the first set by a 6-2 margin before dropping the final two sets by scores of 6-1 and 6-3.
 
CSU heads to Seattle in two weeks for the last WAC cluster of the season that begins on April 6 against UTRGV with a start time of 9 a.m.
