Women's Tennis Drops NEC Opener to New Haven

Chicago State University fell to New Haven 2-5 on Friday. Chicago State University secured singles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and won the No. 1 doubles match.

Chicago State fell short in the doubles point after New Haven secured victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The pair of Camila Sanchez and Nikita Liyanage were defeated 6-1 by Pierina Lescher and Victoria Torgores, while Danina Hughes and Nadjema Morille lost 6-2 to Leni Bischof and Sofia Lazaro. CSU's Karolina Skowronska and Mackenzie King earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Valentinna Ferrarini and Addison Rosser, but it was not enough to claim the doubles point.

In singles, Chicago State's Karolina Skowronska delivered a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Valentinna Ferrarini 6-4, 6-4. Sanchez contributed another point for Chicago State with a tight three-set victory at No. 2 singles, overcoming Victoria Torgores 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. However, New Haven dominated the remaining singles matches. At No. 3 singles, Pierina Lescher defeated Mackenzie King 6-2, 6-2. Sofia Lazaro secured a win for New Haven at No. 4 singles against Nikita Liyanage, 7-5, 1-6, 10-6.

Danina Hughes was defeated in straight sets at No. 5 singles by Manon Hallemans, 6-2, 6-1, while Nadjema Morille fell to Addison Rosser at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Despite some hard-fought matches, the Cougars concluded the match with a 4-2 loss to New Haven.
