TEANECK, N.J. - Chicago State University fell to Wagner College 1-4 on Sunday. CSU secured its lone point in the singles competition with a victory at the No. 1 position.
Wagner secured the doubles point against CSU by capturing victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Victoria Madail and Dariana Vera led with a 6-2 win over
Mackenzie King and
Karolina Skowronska at No. 1 doubles, while Samantha Bentsianov and Camila Claros followed with a 6-0 victory over
Nikita Liyanage and
Nadjema Morille at No. 3 doubles. The match at No. 2 doubles, featuring
Danina Hughes and
Camila Sanchez against Alexia Estrada and Claudia Lindsey, was left unfinished at 5-2 in favor of Wagner.
In singles play, Skowronska gave the Cougars their sole point, achieving a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Madail at No. 1 singles. Wagner expanded its lead with wins at No. 3 singles, where Bentsianov defeated Liyanage 6-1, 7-5, and at No. 4 singles, where Estrada overcame King 6-3, 6-0. Lindsey added another point for Wagner at No. 5 singles, with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hughes.
The match concluded with Wagner winning 4-1, as the matches at No. 2 and No. 6 singles between Sanchez and Liepa Sataite, and between Morille and Vera, were both left unfinished.
