Drazic Claims Two Singles Wins as CSU Concludes Homestand at H-F

HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Freshman Katarina Drazic (Sarasota, Fla./Elevation Preparatory Academy) recorded a pair of singles wins today for the Chicago State women's tennis team as it concluded a three-match homestand at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club by dropping contests to Oakland (2-5) and Lewis (3-4).

Drazic defeated Oakland's Amanda Nilsson by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 in her first match of the day before capturing a close 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Simone Parn of Lewis in the nightcap. The wins extended her win streak to three in a row and improved her season record in singles to 7-4.

Seniors Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) and Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) stretched their winning streak in doubles to five matches in a row in the Oakland match after capturing a dominant 6-1 victory at No. 2 over Darya Maltseva and Alexandra Whall.

The Green and White gained another straight set victory against the Golden Grizzlies as senior Mariya Kostyuk (Kyiv, Ukraine/International School) posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Dasha Artamonova in the No. 1 flight.

In the Lewis match, the doubles team of junior Anastasiia Goncharova (Smolensk, Russia) & freshman Alana Andrews (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) earned a default win at No. 3.

Andrews and fellow freshman Iesha Shepherd (Nassau, Bahamas/Laurel Springs School) captured default wins against the Flyers at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, to go along with Drazic.

CSU returns to action as it travels to Orlando, Fla. for a weekend road swing that begins on Thursday, March 15 at 8 a.m. versus Georgia Southern.
