CSU Women’s Tennis Drops Close 4-3 Decision at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE – Chicago State women's tennis battled tough here today against host Milwaukee at the River Glen Elite Tennis Club as the Panthers captured a close 4-3 victory.
 
CSU posted wins in two doubles flights after falling at No. 3 to record an early 1-0 match advantage.
 
The No. 2 tandem of seniors Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) and Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) posted their third consecutive victory thanks to a tightly-contested 7-5 win over Agata Jurczak and Loren Nelson. Clinching the doubles points for the Green and White was freshman Alana Andrews (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) and junior Anastasiia Goncharova (Smolensk, Russia) after they defeated Nicole Clarke and Lucy Harper by a score of 6-2.
 
UWM then won four of the six singles flights to come back and win the match. Gadacz won at the No. 3 contest with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Anna Daniel Fuentes, while Goncharova posted a three-set win against Loren Nelson at No. 2 via scores of 4-6, 7-6 (4) and 10-6.
 
The Cougars open a three-match homestand at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club on March 9 against Omaha starting at 10 a.m.
