CSU Women’s Tennis Opens Homestand with 6-1 Defeat to UIC

HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Chicago State women's tennis team opened a three-match homestand here today at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club with a 6-1 defeat to inter-city foe UIC.
 
The Flames began the match with wins in all three doubles flights to post an early 1-0 lead before winning five of the six singles contests to win the match.
 
Freshman Katarina Drazic (Sarasota, Fla./Elevation Preparatory Academy) improved her singles record to 3-2 after capturing a 6-3, 6-4 win over Stefana Vasic in the No. 6 flight.
 
Two more players found themselves in tough singles battles in senior Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) and junior Anastasiia Goncharova (Smolensk, Russia).
 
Gadacz dropped a close contest at No. 3 against Amelia Guevremont via scores of 7-5 and 6-4, while Goncharova fell to Viktoria Seifert in her No. 5 match by scores of 4-6, 7-5 and 10-8.
 
The Green and White finish off their homestand at H-F on Friday against Eastern Illinois and Purdue Northwest with the start times set for 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
