Track and Field Earns School Records and PR Times at SPIRE Classic

GENEVA, Ohio – The Chicago State track and field team posted a couple of school records and set some personal-best times here at the SPIRE Institute during the SPIRE Division I Classic in its final preparation for the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Championships later this month.

He set a new school record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.42 to finish third and later took fifth in the 60-meter dash after crossing the finish line at a time of 6.91 in the finals.

Senior Desmond Meyer (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) set a new personal-best time of 4:21.94 in the mile run. The 4x400-meter relay team of McKenzie, junior Carlton Sims (), and freshmen Olesson Cesalien () and Aaron Young () finished sixth with a season-best time of 3:18.85.

The Cougar women were led by senior Jocindra Glee (Orlando, Fla./Evans) as she broke her own record in the 300m as she recorded a time of 40.21.

Glee later teamed with freshmen Toniann Ewen (Orlando, Fla./Evans), Aleah Wilson (Blythewood, S.C./Blythewood) and London Nelson (Upper Malboro, Md./Largo) to set a season-best time of 3:25.89 in the 4x400m relay.

"The SPIRE Classic is the kind of meet that we want to perform well because it's a great indicator to our readiness for the upcoming conference meet at the end of the month, CSU head coach Craig Collins stated. "We saw great performances from our team and efforts from Asia, Desmond, Ricordo and Jocindra merely highlights our accomplishments as a team. I'm quite proud of our effort."
