Cougars Capture Fourth Place at Butler Fall Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Austin Dobrescu (Brandon, Canada/Vincent Massey) led the Chicago State men's golf team with a season-low three round score of 218 today to close out the Butler Fall Invitational here at the Highland Golf and Country Club.

As a team, the Cougars placed fourth in the tournament after completing 54 holes with a score of 911 (304-298-309). Host Butler carded a score of 840 (277-278-285) to win the team title, while Indianapolis' Erik Edwards claimed medalist honors when he shot a 205 (72-66-67).

Dobrescu shot a career-low 68 in the first round of play then carded a 77 in the second round and finished with a 73 in the final 18 holes. He shot one-under-par on par five scoring holes and knocked down 38 par putts in the tournament.

Senior Adrian Torres (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. Gustavo Adolfo Becquer) recorded a score of 230 (76-75-79) to finish in a tie for 32nd place while shooting two-over-par on par three scoring opportunities, and junior Jorge Garzon (Bogata, Colombia/Gimnasio los Caobos) tallied a 231 (81-74-76) and produced seven birdie putts en route to placing in a tie for 34th.

Finishing in 45th place was senior Eduardo Falcon (Sabinas, Mexico/St. Anthony) with a 237 (79-74-84) which included scoring one of the three eagle putts on the two-day event. Fellow senior Ram Roque (Valencia City, Bukidnon, Philippines/Bukidnon Faith Christian School) rounded out the group as he carded a 238 (82-75-81) to place 46th.

Next up for the Cougars is a trip to Harborside International Golf Course to host the annual Chi-Town Classic on Oct. 8th and 9th.
