Women’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision at Home to IUPUI

Seniors Leshia Gadacz (L) and Lorea Gamboa teamed to capture a wins at No. 2 doubles today against IUPUI
HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Chicago State women's tennis closed out its weekend slate here this afternoon at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club with a 6-1 defeat to IUPUI.
 
The Jaguars opened doubles play by winning the No. 3 flight by default and later claimed a 6-3 win at No. 1 to gain an early 1-0 lead. CSU's No. 2 tandem of seniors Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) and Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) captured a 6-4 win over Samantha Meyer and Mariella Pessina.
 
Following a default wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, IUPUI then captured three of the last four contests to record the victory.
 
The Green and White's lone victory came in the No. 4 flight as junior Anastasiia Goncharova (Smolensk, Russia) defeated Molly Nguyen in straight sets via scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
 
Chicago State returns to action on Feb. 3 at H-F with a home match against in-state foe Illinois State beginning at 2 p.m.
