Lloyd, Aubets Post Singles Wins for Cougars against New Mexico State

Carynne Lloyd produced a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles today against New Mexico State

KANSAS CITY – Redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and freshman Judit Aubets (Major, Sanauja, Spain/Lluis Peguera) each recorded wins in singles play as the Chicago State women's tennis team fell to New Mexico State, 5-2, this afternoon on the second day of the second Western Athletic Conference cluster here at UMKC's Plaza Tennis Center.

Lloyd snapped a three-match losing streak after defeating Eli Arnaudova in straight sets at the No. 4 flight by scores of 6-2 and 6-4, while Aubets recorded a three-set victory in the No. 6 spot thanks to a 7-5, 5-7, 10-3 decision over Gabrielle Joyce.

Senior Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) also had a tight three-set battle in her No. 5 flight match versus Lindsay Harlas before falling by scores of 5-7, 6-4 and 10-8.

The Aggies produced an early 1-0 advantage by winning all three doubles contests before winning four of the six singles flights to end the match.

In the No. 3 doubles flight, Aubets and junior Mariya Kostyuk (Kyiv, Ukraine/International School) were edged 6-4 by the duo of Joyce and Harlas.

CSU concludes conference play tomorrow morning against Seattle with a start time of 10 a.m.
