Women’s Tennis Heads to Kansas City for Second WAC Cluster

CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's tennis team returns to action this weekend as it heads to Kansas City for the second Western Athletic Conference cluster of the spring season from the Plaza Tennis Center.
 
CSU takes on New Mexico State on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. then finish off conference play Sunday morning against Seattle U beginning at 10 a.m.
 
The Green and White come into the weekend with a record of 4-14 and is 0-3 versus conference opponents after dropping a 7-0 decision to UMKC on March 19 in Las Cruces, N.M. Junior Mariya Kostyuk (Kyiv, Ukraine/International School) has produced a team-leading 14 singles wins for CSU that includes a 9-9 mark in dual matches in addition to posting a 6-2 doubles record with freshman Judit Aubets (Major, Sanauja, Spain/Lluis Peguera).
 
NM State brings a 6-10 overall record to the cluster, including a 2-1 conference mark, following last weekend where it fell on the road to Wyoming (7-0) and rival New Mexico (5-2) in non-conference contests.
 
Seattle U is currently 8-11 on the season with a 0-3 ledger in WAC play after earning a split in two road matches in Idaho last weekend with a 7-0 win at Lewis-Clark State College and a 7-0 loss at Idaho. The top player for SU is junior Michelle Lui, who has posted an 18-10 singles record and is 11-8 in doubles play with fellow junior Madison Maloney.
 
CSU travels to the state of Indiana on April 11 for a pair of non-conference road matches at Purdue in West Lafayette (10 a.m.) and St. Joseph's College in Renasslaer (3:30 p.m.).
