Women’s Tennis Falls to Grand Canyon in WAC Cluster

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Chicago State women's tennis team continued play at the first Western Athletic Conference cluster of the season here today at the New Mexico State Tennis Center as it fell to Grand Canyon by a score of 7-0.
 
The Antelopes won all three doubles flights to produce an early 1-0 advantage with the closest battle coming in the No. 1 flight as redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and junior Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) dropped a 7-5 decision to Tatum Prudhomme and Susan Baklini.
 
In singles play, the Cougars saw two players in tough three-set battles while GCU claimed wins in all six flights. Gamboa fell in the No. 2 flight against Alexandra Petrzalkova via scores of 5-7, 7-6 (3-0) and 12-10 then senior Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) dropped a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 5 to Lana Rinaldi.
 
CSU closes out the weekend cluster tomorrow morning against UMKC beginning at 8 a.m.
