Kostyuk, Lloyd Record Three-Set Singles Victories at Northern Illinois

Redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd came back from a set down in her No. 4 singles match at Northern Illinois to win the final two sets.
CHICAGO – Chicago State women's tennis finished off a two-match road swing here today with a pair of singles wins despite dropping a 5-2 decision today to host Northern Illinois at the Vaughn Tennis Center in Aurora, Ill.
 
NIU captured two out of the three doubles matches to post an early 1-0 advantage with the Green and White's No. 2 tandem of redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and junior Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) claiming a 6-2 win over Abbie-Jade Riley and Meghan Montgomerie.
 
Junior Mariya Kostyuk (Kyiv, Ukraine/International School) produced her third straight victory after defeating Pauline Chawafambira in a three-set battle at No. 2 singles via scores of 6-4, 4-6 and 1-0.
 
Lloyd came back from a 6-1 defeat in the first set of her No. 4 match against Abgail Dekkinga by winning easily in the final two sets by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
 
CSU returns to the H-F Racquet and Fitness Center in south suburban Homewood, Ill., on Saturday with a home match against Horizon League foe Green Bay beginning at 8 a.m.
