Women’s Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision at Illinois State

Redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd fought in a three-set battle at No. 3 singles today at Illinois State
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Chicago State women's tennis team continued its five-match road swing here at the Bloomington Tennis Center as it dropped a 7-0 decision this afternoon to Illinois State.
 
The Redbirds swept all three doubles to earn a 1-0 advantage in the match and later claimed wins in all six singles flights for the victory.
 
Three CSU players saw themselves in three-set battles during singles play that began with redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) fall to Jana Kustova at No. 3 by scores of 6-3, 5-7 and 10-7.
 
Junior Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) lost her No. 4 flight contest to Gabriela Sprague via scores of 6-0, 6-7 and 10-3, while senior Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) dropped a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 decision to Andrea Beneroso in the No 6 flight.
 
The Cougars continue their road swing on Feb. 25 in downstate Belleville, Ill., when they take on NCAA Division II member McKendree starting at 4 p.m.
