Kostyuk Captures Fifth Straight Singles Win at Bradley

Mariya Kostyuk posted her fifth straight singles win today after winning her No. 1 flight at Bradley
PEORIA, Ill. – Junior Mariya Kostyuk (Kyiv, Ukraine/International School) captured her fifth straight singles win as the Chicago State women's tennis team fell to host Bradley, 5-2, here this afternoon at the Markin Tennis Courts.
 
Kostyuk improved her singles record to 12-8 after recording a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ariel Dechter in the No. 1 flight.
 
Redshirt senior Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) was also victorious in singles for the Green and White as she claimed her third consecutive win in her No. 4 flight by knocking off Alexa Brandt in a thrilling three-set match via scores of 7-5, 2-6 and 10-7.
 
The Braves posted a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point with victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 flights, but Kostyuk teamed with fellow junior Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) to defeat Natalia Barbery and Ashley Thai in the No. 1 flight with a score of 6-1. BU would also capture four singles wins to claim the match.
 
CSU travels to Bloomington, Ill., tomorrow afternoon to battle Illinois State with a start time of 1 p.m.
