CSU Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season at Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. – Chicago State women's tennis opened its 2017 spring season here this evening at the Combe Tennis Center as it fell to host Northwestern by a score of 7-0.

The Wildcats posted a 1-0 advantage early in the match after winning all three doubles matches before capturing all six singles contests for the win.

In singles play, junior Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) and freshman Judit Aubets (Major, Sanauja, Spain/Lluis Peguera) played close matches for the Green and White. Gamboa battle tough in her No. 2 singles contest against Lee Or before falling via scores of 6-2 and 6-4, while Aubets fell in her first collegiate dual contest to Nina Van Oost at No. 5 by scores of 6-1 and 6-3.

CSU (2-1) is back in action tomorrow morning as it returns to the Combe Tennis Center to battle Akron with a start time of 10 a.m.
