Women’s Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision to Seattle at WAC Tournament

Senior Marnie Perez-Ochoa returns a volley during her No.5 singles match against Seattle
BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Fifth-seeded Chicago State dropped a 4-0 decision to fourth-seeded Seattle in a first round match here Friday to open the 2016 Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament at the Brownsville Tennis Center.
 
SU opened the match with an early 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point following victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights.
 
The Redhawks then captured singles wins at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 flights to clinch the match and advanced to meet defending WAC champion New Mexico State in tomorrow's semifinal round.
 
Senior Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) concluded her collegiate career for the Green and White with a three-set battle in the No. 4 contest against Barbara Carey as she came back from a close 7-6 loss in the first set with a dominant 6-0 victory in the second set before falling in the final set by a score of 6-2.
 
The Cougars close out the season with a record of 3-19.
