Perez-Ochoa and Pulgar Post Wins for CSU Women’s Tennis against New Mexico State

Marnie Perez-Ochoa claimed her third consecutive singles win with a three-set victory against New Mexico State
HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Chicago State women's tennis received wins from senior Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) and freshman Monica Pulgar (Madrid, Spain/San Jose de Cluny) as it fell to defending Western Athletic Conference champion New Mexico State, 5-2, here today at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club.
 
Perez-Ochoa and Pulgar claimed a close 7-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over the Aggie duo of Mia Brandt and Ashvarya Shrivastav, but NMSU (9-7, 4-0) won a close wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles slots to earn a 1-0 lead.
 
In the No. 4 singles contest, Perez-Ochoa bounced back from a 6-4 loss in the first set against Brandt before claiming the final two sets via scores of 7-5 and 10-4 to earn her third consecutive singles win.
 
Pulgar also fell in the first set of her No. 5 singles battle versus Lindsay Harlas, but regrouped to earn the win after taking a close 6-4 decision in the second set and gained a 10-6 duke in the final set.
 
Sophomore Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) posted a 6-4 first-set win against Erica Castillo Lopez before falling  by score of 7-6 and 10-5 in the last two sets.
 
CSU (3-16, 0-4) concludes the cluster tomorrow afternoon at the Park Forest (Ill.) Tennis & Health Club against Missouri-Kansas City with the first serve set for 3:45 p.m.
