Women’s Tennis Opens WAC Slate with Two Matches in Phoenix

Freshman Bryttish Burts and junior Hanna Pangestu teamed up to capture a win at No. 3 doubles this weekend against UTRGV
PHOENIX – Chicago State women's tennis team opened Western Athletic Conference play this weekend with a pair of matches here at the Paseo Tennis Center during the first WAC cluster of the season.
 
The Cougars fell to host Grand Canyon and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley by identical 7-0 scores.
 
After falling in the first set by a 6-2 margin, junior Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) had a battle in the second set in her No. 2 singles contest versus GCU's Alexandra Petrzalkov before falling by a score of 7-5.
 
Pangestu later teamed with freshman Bryttish Burts (Olympia Fields, Ill./Rich Central) to knock off the UTRGV duo of Natasha Minc and Dominique Ibarra by a 7-5 margin in the No. 3 doubles match.
 
CSU (2-14, 0-2) returns to Chicago to open a five-match homestand at the CSU Tennis Courts beginning March 29 with a non-conference match against Valparaiso with a start time of 2 p.m.
