Women’s Tennis Edged by Cardinal Stritch at Home, 4-3

Junior Hanna Pangestu captured wins at No. 1 singles and doubles today against Cardinal Stritch
HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Chicago State women's tennis continued its season-opening, seven-match homestand today at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club with a close battle against visiting Cardinal Stritch, but the Wolves claimed a 4-3 victory.
 
After Stritch earned a default victory at No. 3 doubles, the Green and White would win the remaining two doubles contests to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
The No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Leshia Gadacz (Toronto, Ontario/Loretto Abbey) and freshman Monica Pulgar (Madrid, Spain/San Jose de Cluny) claimed a 6-2 decision over Emmy Kaftan and Luise Gruber, while senior Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) and junior Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) defeated Jacey Sinnit and Volcy Boilevin by a 6-3 margin at No. 1 doubles.
 
Pangestu continued her winning ways into singles play as she knocked off Alexi Loomis at No. 1 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. Gadacz later earned a 7-5, 6-4 win over Sinnitt in the No. 3 singles contest for CSU.
 
The Cougars finish off their homestand in Homewood on Sunday with a Valentine's Day contest against Eastern Illinois with a start time of 12 p.m.
