Cougars Fall to Chicago in Season Opener, 5-2

Freshman Monica Pulgar captured her first collegiate singles victory against Chicago
CHICAGO – Chicago State women's tennis opened its 2016 dual match schedule at home on Sunday by falling to NCAA Division III Chicago, 5-2, at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, Ill.
 
The Cougars received singles wins from senior Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) and freshman Monica Pulgar (Madrid, Spain/San Jose de Cluny) against the Maroons.
 
Perez-Ochoa knocked off UC's Tiffany Chen in a three-set battle at No. 3 singles via scores of 7-5, 1-6 and 10-5, while Pulgar earned her first collegiate singles win after posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kat Stevanovich at No. 6 singles.
 
The Green and White continue their homestand on Friday, Jan. 29 against Oakland with a start time of 12 Noon.
