Women’s Tennis Falls to Seattle in WAC Tournament, 4-1

KANSAS CITY – Fifth-seeded Chicago State women's tennis closed out its 2014-15 season as it fell to fourth-seeded Seattle this afternoon by a score of 4-1 in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at UMKC's Plaza Tennis Center.

The Cougars opened the match by taking the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead. After Seattle captured the No. 1 doubles match, the No. 2 doubles tandem of freshman Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) and sophomore Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) captured an 8-5 win over SU's Madison Maloney and Barbara Ann Casey. Juniors Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) defeated Kristen James and Kailyn Skjonsby in the No. 3 match by a score of 8-4.

Seattle came back to win four matches in singles play for the win while three matches went the distance with Pangestu and Gamboa leading in two of those contests before the match concluded. The Redhawks advance to meet top-seeded New Mexico State in the semifinals.

CSU finished with a record of 3-19.
