PEORIA, Ill. - Chicago State (2-12) lost 5-2 in the dual match against Bradley University (8-4)Â Friday afternoon at Clubs at River City.
Chicago State competed short-handed, conceding the No. 6 singles point, as well as the No. 3 doubles position. Bradley took advantage, securing the doubles point when Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) and Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) fell 8-2 to Ariel Dechter and Irinka Toidze No. 2 doubles. Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) and Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) dropped their match to Alexa Brandt and Ashley Thai 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.Â
CSU lost the match as Bradley won by default at No. 6 singles for a 2-0 lead. Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles which was the deciding fourth point. Chicago State earned their two points with singles wins from Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) at No.4 and 5 singles. Bradley scored their fifth point with a 3-set win at No. 3 singles over Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute).
The Cougars will continue their stretch on the road as they take on Eastern Illinois on Saturday March 7th. Saturday's match is slated for a 1 p.m. start in Charleston, IL
