CSU Women's Tennis Suffer 4-2 Loss to Detroit

HOMEWOOD, Ill. (3/1/2015) --  University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team beat the host Chicago State Cougars, 4-2, on Sunday at the H-F Racquet Club.
 
The Cougars were ahead early as Chicago State (2-11) claimed the doubles points earning a pair of 7-6 tie-breaking victories, Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) / Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) at No. 2 and Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) / Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) No. 3. Detroit's lone doubles win was at the No. 1 spot as Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) / Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) fell 6-2 to Irina Slizovskya and Anna Davydova .

In singles, CSU lost the match when Detroit captured four of the five completed matches. Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) won her singles match at the No.1 spot, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) fell 6-2, 6-1 to Slizovskaya at No. 3, while Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) fell to Valeryia Kulikovskaya, 6-2, 7-6 (3), in second singles. Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) lost to Davydova at No. 4, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5, and Nynke Van Der Goot clinched the fourth point with a 6-3, 6-3 tally over Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) in the fifth position.

The Cougars will be right back at it this weekend as they travel to Bradley and Eastern Illinois.
