CSU Women's Tennis Suffers 4-1 Loss To Dayton

Dayton, Ohio - The Chicago State women's tennis team lost to the Dayton Flyers 4-1 on Friday afternoon (February 6th)

The Cougars came out hot winning the doubles points led by junior Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) and junior Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) thwarted Carly Peck and Katie Shepherd 6-1. Sophomore Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) and freshmen Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) beat Jackie Kawamot and Alex Townsend 6-4. Sophomore Faith Huckabee and freshmen Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) were undone by Marlys Bridgham and Mandy Marchant 6-4. 

In singles play, Bridgham beat Pangestu 6-2, 6-0. Townsend took down Lloyd 6-1, went unfinished 4-6. Peck won 6-1, 6-0 over Perez-Ochoa while Kawamoto and Huckabee were unfinished 4-6, 5-3. Roki lost 6-2, 6-4 to Marchant and Gamboa succumbed to Sammi Hornbarger 6-2, 6-2. 

Dayton saw their record jump to 4-2 while Chicago State fell to 1-4. Jack Barton's squad return to the court vs. DePaul on Saturday (February 14th). The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
