HOMEWOOD, Ill. - The Chicago State University women's tennis squad were defeated by Northern Iowa 4-1 on Friday.
In singles play, Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia) lost at No.1 6-1, 6-0. At No.2 singles, Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) went unfinished against Elvira Lopez 6-1, 4-5 UNI. Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) fell 6-3, 6-1. Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) was beat by Astrid Santos 6-2, 6-0. Marnie Perez Ochoa went unfinished at No.5 singles 6-4, 5-2 UNI. Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) came up with the only singles win, defeating Sydney Wolfe easily 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles competition, Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and Lorea Gamboa (Gamiz-Fika, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) played at No. 1 but lost 8-1 to Erica Medlin and Elvira Lopez. Matea Roki (Etobicoke, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) and Hanna Pantgestu teamed up at No.2 doubles but were defeated 8-5. Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and Marnie Perez Ochoa's doubles match went unfinished as they were leading 6-5.
CSU will be in action on March 1st at 1p.m. against Detroit in Homewood, Ill.
