Tournament CentralCHICAGO - The fourth seeded Chicago State women's tennis team will face fifth seeded University of Missouri Kansas City in a first round 2014 Western Athletic Conference Tournament matchup. The match will be played Friday, April 25 at 9 a.m. (MT). The WAC Tournament (April 25-27) is being hosted by New Mexico State University and will be played at the NMSU Tennis Center. The Cougars are 8-16 on the year while Kansas City is 6-13.
The Cougars are led by freshman
Kirsa Utech (Nindorf, Germany/Meldorfer Gelehrtenschule) who has had a solid first year with a team leading 16 singles wins. She also has 11 wins in doubles play. Fellow freshman
Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) has earned 13 wins in singles play and nine doubles victories. Sophomore
Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) has 11 singles and 10 double's wins while freshman
Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia/) has won 11 times in singles play and has earned eight doubles victories on the season.
This will be senior
Karyn Emeralda (Jakarta, Indonesia/)'s last conference tournament as a Chicago State Cougar. She has 33 career singles victories to go along with 28 career doubles victories.
The winner of the Chicago State-Kansas City matchup will go on to face number one seeded Idaho on Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. (MT). The winner of the WAC Tournament will be awarded an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
