Kirsa Utech (Nindorf, Germany/Meldorfer Gelehrtenschule) won 6-0, 6-1 at No.1 singles while sophomore
Gema Bolado Yusta (Madrid, Spain./IES Lázaro Cárdenas) scored a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Freshman
Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia/) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner while sophomore
Sabrine Navarro (Melbourne, Australia/) was victorious 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles action, Yusta and Utech shut out Nicole Jones and Jenna Wallace 8-0. Senior
Karyn Emeralda (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and Navarro also won via shutout with an 8-0 victory over Ese Davis and Melissa Alger. Sophomore
Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) and Pangestu upended Andriana Johnson and Jamee Hale 8-1 to wrap up the scoring.
Chicago State improved their record 7-16 on the season while Western Illinois fell to 0-15. The Cougars host Valparaiso in a non-conference match tomorrow (April 14) at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club. Before the match, the team will honor senior
