Orlando, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats took care of the Chicago State women's tennis team 6-1 on Thursday (March 13).

Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia/) had the only Cougar point as she defeated Maria Dimitrova 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in singles action.

Kirsa Utech (Nindorf, Germany/Meldorfer Gelehrtenschule) won the first set, but lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Chinastu Kajiwara. Sophomore
Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) won the second set of her match, but fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to Elizabeth Nyenwe. Freshman
Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) lost her first set in a tie-break before falling 7-6, 6-4 to Maria Sablina. Sophomore
Sabrine Navarro (Melbourne, Australia/) succumbed to Gaby Chinchilla 6-4, 6-0. Sophomore
Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) was taken down 6-0, 6-0 by Mina Matsuba.
The Wildcats also won all three doubles matches. Matsuba and Sablina were victorious over Huckabee and Perez-Ochoa 8-1. Nyenwe and Dimitrova were 8-4 winners over Lloyd and Utech. Kajiwara and Chinchilla won 8-6 over senior

Head coach
Jack Barton talked about how playing these tough teams will prepare the Cougars for the conference tournament.
"The reason we play an aggressive (non-conference) schedule is to get us ready for conference and playing outdoors," said the fourth-year head coach. "We still believe we can win the conference."
Bethune-Cookman improved to 11-7 while Chicago State fell to 5-13. The Cougars head home to take on St. Louis at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club next Friday (March 21). The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. CT.
