Homewood, Ill. - The Eastern Illinois Panthers won 5-2 over the Chicago State women's tennis team at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club on Sunday evening (Feb. 23).
Sophomore
Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) won her second consecutive singles match by defeating Kamile Stadalninkaite 6-0, 6-3. Freshman
Faith Huckabee (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) beat Hannah Kimbrough 6-2, 6-2.
The Panthers won the remaining four singles matches. Freshman
Kirsa Utech (Nindorf, Germany/Meldorfer Gelehrtenschule) won a set, but lost 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 to Janelle Prisner. Kelly Iden took down sophomore
Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) 6-3, 6-1. Ali Foster won 6-0, 6-1 over sophomore
Gema Bolado Yusta (Madrid, Spain./IES Lázaro Cárdenas). Senior
Karyn Emeralda (Jakarta, Indonesia/) fell 7-5, 6-1 to Sephora Boulbahaiem.
Eastern Illinois won all three doubles matches as well. Utech and Emeralda suffered an 8-6 loss to Prisner and Boulbahaiem. Foster and Kimbrough beat freshman
Hanna Pangestu (Jakarta, Indonesia/) and Perez-Ochoa 8-5. Iden and Stadalninkaite won 8-6 over Lloyd and Huckabee.
Chicago State falls to 3-8 during the spring season while Eastern Illinois saw their record improve to 5-0.
