HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Freshman
Viviene Noel (Liege, Belgium/) won at singles and doubles during Chicago State women's tennis' 6-1 loss to Nebraska Omaha on Sunday (April 7) morning at the HF Racquet Club.
Noel took down Jacqueline Baude 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3 singles for the Cougars' lone point of the day. Noel teamed with freshman
Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles over Alex Tran and Lindsay Weidman. The doubles point went to the Mavericks after winning at No. 2 8-4 and No. 3 8-2.
Freshman
Sabrine Navarro (Melbourne, Australia/) fought hard at No. 5 singles before being edged by Rachel Pierson 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.
“We had our opportunities in doubles and we let them get away,” Chicago State assistant coach
Michael Benson said. “It is important to come out strong in doubles. I'm glad to see Viviene do well today winning a pair of matches.”
Omaha improves to 6-10 with the victory. Chicago State falls to 5-15. The Cougars play at Milwaukee on April 13.
