ST. LOUIS – Chicago State women's tennis fell 7-0 at Saint Louis University on Friday (March 1).
The Cougars' lone win on the day came at No. 2 doubles where senior
Ruta Grinvalde (Cesis, Latvia/) and freshman
Viviene Noel (Liege, Belgium/) defeated Madison Cook and Stephanie Hollins 8-6. However it wasn't enough to earn the point after SLU won at the other two doubles matches.
The closest singles contest came at No. 3 where freshman
Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) fell to Brooke Urzendowski 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
The two clubs played the singles matches first meaning SLU clinched the win after winning at each singles spot. Chicago State No. 1 singles player junior
Karyn Emeralda (Jakarta, Indonesia/) was forced to retire from her singles match after an injury.
The Billikens are now 6-3. Chicago State falls to 4-10
The Cougars play at SIUE on Saturday.
