FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Chicago State women's tennis suffered a 7-0 loss to Youngstown State on Saturday (Feb. 16) in a neutral site dual match.
The Penguins took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match was left unfinished to move to singles play.
In singles, senior
Ruta Grinvalde (Cesis, Latvia/) (Cesis, Latvia) fell 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 to Lauren Hankle at No. 4 competition.
“We knew going in that our success would come from the bottom of our lineup buy YSU played a little more steady than we did at the 4, 5 and 6 positions.” Chicago State assistant coach
Keith Williams said. “The ladies are playing well but we challenged them to take it to the next level. They all have great talent but they have to really trust themselves and believe.”
Chicago State falls to 3-8. YSU is 4-2. The Cougars play at Northern Illinois on Feb. 22.
