FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Chicago State women's tennis split a pair of matches on Friday (Feb. 15). The Cougars defeated Robert Morris (Pa.) 6-1 and then fell 7-0 to home standing IPFW.

Carynne Lloyd (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) (East Lansing, Mich.) topped Samantha Alves 6-4, 6-4. Freshman
Marnie Perez-Ochoa (Louisville, Ky./Male) (Louisville, Ky.) rallied to defeat Marie-Sophie Heine 1-6, 7-5, 6-1. Freshman
Viviene Noel (Liege, Belgium/) (Liege, Belgium) edged Isabella Novella 6-3, 6-1. Senior
Ruta Grinvalde (Cesis, Latvia/) (Cesis, Latvia) earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Tiffany Meinert.
The Cougars won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.

“The ladies played very well and they came back with a vengance against Robert Morris,” Chicago State assistant coach
Keith Williams said. “It carried over to the next match but IPFW responded.”
Lloyd fell at No. 2 singles to Kristine Lindal 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-4. Perez-Ochoa fell at No. 3 singles to Caterina Kiefer 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
“Carynne and Marnie showed a lot of heart tonight and when they put it all together and get more experience they will be a force to reckon with in the future,” Williams said.
The Cougars are 3-7 and play Youngstown State on Saturday.
