Women's Tennis Opens Season With 7-0 Defeat at DePaul

Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno teamed with Karyn Emeralda for a close battle at No. 1 doubles in CSU's season opener at DePaul

Chicago State University women's tennis started off its 2012 season with a 7-0 loss to DePaul at the Lakeshore Athletic Club on Jan. 21.

DePaul started by gaining the doubles point, but the Lady Cougars had a good showing by the senior Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) and sophomore Karyn Emeralda (Jakarta, Indonesia/) at No. 1 by falling to Jasmin Kling and Gia McKnight, 8-6.

"Although they lost, they played well. I would have like to have seen them hold their serve more after breaking them twice in the pro-set, but the season is young and we will have time to work on that before our next match." said CSU Head Coach Jack Barton

Following doubles play, the Blue Demons swept Chicago State in all 6 singles matches.

"DePaul is one of the top teams in the region and has a change to be the best team in the Big East and we played hard.  Our goal is to win conference so it will take matches like this to get ready for the Great West Conference Championships. We have until the end of April and we will be ready."

The Cougars begin their home schedule this Friday and Sunday at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racket and Fitness Club, where they will take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Bradley, respectively.
