Women’s Cross Country Opens 2011 Season at Bradley Open

Jennifer Sanford led CSU in its season-opening meet at the Bradley Cross Country Open

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's cross country opened its 2011 slate at the Bradley Cross Country Open on Sept. 9 at Detweiler Park in Peoria, Ill.

Leading CSU in the three-mile race was sophomore Jennifer Sanford (Hammond, IN/Morton), who finished 57th after posting a time of 26:48, while junior Sharifah Robertson (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) placed 58th with a time of 26:50.

Also competing in the meet was sophomore Ashley Alamgir (Chicago, Ill./Mather), junior Brooke Melvin (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) and sophomore Jaya Emerson.

The Cougars are back in action this Friday evening in downstate Normal for the annual Illinois Intercollegiate Championships.
