CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's tennis team continued its winning ways here today as it posted a 4-2 win over visiting Valparaiso on Senior Day at the CSU Tennis Courts. The Cougars improved their season record to 7-13, while the Crusaders fell to 0-13 on the year.
Prior to the match, the Green and White honored senior players Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) (Tulang Agung, Indonesia) and Peggy Moore (Toledo, OH/Libbey) (Toledo, Ohio) in a special ceremony for their accomplishments on and off the court over the past four seasons that included winning the 2009 Independent championship.
CSU opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles to claim an early 1-0 lead as Mayasari and Moore posted a dominating 8-1 win over Brittany O'Reilly and Stephanie York at No. 2 doubles. Juniors Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) and Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) (Mokerto, East Java, Indonesia) posted an 8-2 win in the No. 1 doubles contest over Katie Bilyeu and Kristin Zakiewicz.
The singles matches began with Moore falling to Zakiewicz in her No. 4 singles by default due to injury to even the match at 1-1, but Mayasari soundly defeated O'Reilly by identical 6-0 scores in No. 1 singles.
Freshman Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev.) battled hard in her No. 5 singles contest versus Aubree Zdanovec by scores of 6-3 and 6-2, but Juan Rosalina captured a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over York and Juan Rosalia ended the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Bilyeu in the No. 2 singles contest.
