Women’s Tennis Claims 4-3 Road Win at Eastern Illinois

Junior Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno captured match-clinching win at No. 2 singles Wednesday at Eastern Illinois

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's tennis ended the month of March on a good note as it captured a close 4-3 win over host Eastern Illinois Wednesday afternoon at the Rex Darling Courts in Charleston, Ill.

The visitors claimed an early 1-0 lead in the match after winning the doubles point that concluded with juniors Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) and Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) (Mokerto, East Java, Indonesia) posting a close 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles over EIU's Janelle Prisner and Cara Huck. 

Senior Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) (Tulang Agung, Indonesia) and Peggy Moore (Toledo, OH/Libbey) (Toledo, Ohio) earned an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles over the duo of Shannon Brooks and Jennifer Kim.

The Panthers opened singles play with a default win at No. 6 singles before capturing two more singles wins before the Green and White closed out the match with three wins. 

Mayasari posted a dominant win at No. 1 singles, beating Prisner by identical 6-1 scores, while Juan Rosalina posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Brooks at No. 3 singles and Juan Rosalia finished off the match with a 6-2, 7-6 win in No. 2 singles over Kim.

The Cougars return to action this Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee with a road contest at Marquette with a start time of 1 p.m.
