BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) recorded a career-high 33 points and a game-high three blocked shots here Wednesday night as fifth-seeded Chicago State fell to third seed and host Cal State Bakersfield in an exciting Women's Basketball Invitational semifinal by a score of 93-92 at the Icardo Center.
Beckel shot 14-of-21 from the field while added eight rebounds, one assist and one steal for the Green and White in her final collegiate game. Senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) added 22 points, seven boards, four assists, three steals and two blocks in a career high-tying 45 minutes played.
Junior Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) tallied 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, and senior Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) added 10 points and nine rebounds. Junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) finished with nine boards, eight points and five assists.
Freshman Tyonna Outland led four Cal State Bakersfield players in double figures with 21 points. Senior Britney McGee added 20 points, sophomore Amber Williams tallied 19 points and six assists, and junior Kristine Herman finished with 18 points.
Chicago State concludes the season with a 24-10 record.
