Waldon Becomes CSU’s All-Time Division I Leading Scorer, Scores 19 Points in 78-57 Homecoming Win over North Dakota

Senior Courtney Waldon scored 19 points to become CSU's all-time Division I scoring leader against North Dakota

CHICAGO – Senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) scored a game-high 19 points to become Chicago State's Division I all-time leading scorer as the host Cougars (18-8, 9-0) closed out its home schedule Saturday with a 78-57 win over defending Great West Conference champion North Dakota (9-13, 5-2) in its homecoming contest at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.

Waldon entered the game with 1,434 career points, trailing former CSU standout Latonia Cantrell by nine points before scoring 10 first-half points to capture the record en route to helping the Green and White post a 39-37 halftime lead. She connected on a three-pointer at the 2:04 mark to gain the record.

The Cougars turned up the defensive pressure in holding the Fighting Sioux to shoot 19 percent from the field and turned 26 UND turnovers into 32 points.

Junior Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) added 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and went 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) recorded 11 points with a career-best eight steals and a game-high seven rebounds, while senior Caila Desroches (Long Island, NY/Monroe CC) (Long Island, N.Y.) also scored 11 points and recorded a game-leading four blocked shots.

North Dakota was led by sophomore Madi Buck's 14 points, while freshman Allyssa Wall added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Following the game, Waldon and Desroches along with fellow seniors Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) and Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) were honored in a senior day ceremony.

The Cougars will be idle this week before starting a three-game GWC road swing to conclude the regular season on Feb. 26 at South Dakota with a start time of 6 p.m.
