SEATTLE, Wash. – Chicago State women's basketball scored 43 second-half points to break a 31-31 halftime tie en route to capturing a 74-62 non-conference decision over host Seattle Saturday evening at SU's Connolly Center. The win also gave eighth-year head coach Angela Jackson her 100th victory as CSU's bench boss.
The Cougars hiked their season record to 14-8, while the Redhawks fell to 5-17.
CSU was led by senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.), who recorded 19 points and connected on 5-of-9 of her attempts from the three-point line and also posted a game-high four steals on the day.
Junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) tallied 16 points and went 7-of-8 from the free throw line, while senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) contributed 14 points. Senior Caila Desroches (Long Island, NY/Monroe CC) (Long Island, N.Y.) produced 12 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots for the Green and White.
Seattle was led by junior Elle Kerfoot as she produced game highs of 20 points and eight assists.
CSU continues its four-game road swing on Thursday evening with a Great West Conference battle at Houston Baptist. The opening tip from HBU's Sharp Gym will be at 5:30 p.m.
