Women’s Cross Country Posts PR Times at Illinois Meet

Junior Markesia Taylor posted a PR time of 24:38 at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's cross country team as a team produced its most successful times this season on Sept. 17 at the annual Illinois Intercollegiate Championships, held at the Webring Golf Course on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.

 

Freshman Jennifer Sanford (Hammond, IN/Morton) (Hammond, Ind.) paced CSU in the five-kilometer race by completing the course at a personal-best time of 23:54. The time eclipsed her previous top 5K mark of 24:09.88 that was set on Sept. 11 at the NIU Huskie Open.

 

Junior Markesia Taylor (Chicago, IL/Sullivan) (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a personal-best time of 24:38, while fellow classmate Jasmine Walker (Capitol Heights, MD/Essex CC) (Capitol Heights, Md.) rounded out the Cougar contingent by recording a PR time of her own at 24:39.

 

CSU will be idle for the remainder of the month before its next meet on Oct. 2 at the annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, hosted by Loyola, on Chicago's north side.
