CHICAGO – Chicago State women's tennis captured its second win in a row on Tuesday afternoon after knocking off host Valparaiso, 5-2, in a non-conference battle at the Valpo Tennis Complex in Valparaiso, Ind. The Cougars evened their season record to 4-4 with the win, while the Crusaders fell to 0-6 on the year.
CSU captured the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches to gain a 1-0 advantage. Junior Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) and senior Golda Rubina (Jakarta, Indonesia/Budi Murni) started the match with an 8-0 win over VU's Abby Wright and Katie Bilyeau, while sophomores Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) and Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) defeated Stephanie York and Jackie O'Reilly by an 8-1 margin.
Mayasari began the singles competition with a win over Wright at No. 1 singles by identical 6-1 scores and Juan Rosalia gained a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 singles contest over Brittany O'Reilly. At No. 3 singles, Juan Rosalina defeated Bilyeau with both games being 6-0, and Rubina captured the match for the Cougars thanks to a 6-1, 6-0 win over York at No. 4 singles.
CSU heads to Macomb, Ill., this weekend to compete in the Western Illinois Round-Up at the varsity courts by Brophy Hall. The Cougars open the competition on Saturday against the host Leathernecks beginning at 9 a.m.
