CHICAGO (Feb. 22, 2010) – The Chicago State women's tennis team produced a win in its 2010 road opener on Feb. 20 after knocking off host Bradley, 4-3, at the Clubs of River City South Tennis Courts in Peoria, Ill. The Cougars improved to 2-2 with the win, while the Braves saw their season record fall to 2-3.
In the doubles events, the home team captured two out of three matches to post an early 1-0 lead. Junior Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) and senior Golda Rubina (Jakarta, Indonesia/Budi Murni) handed a convincing 8-2 defeat to Nicole Miller and Emily Renegold at No. 1 doubles.
Sophomore Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) and junior Peggy Moore (Toledo, OH/Libbey) lassalater fell to the tandem of Kelly Donohue and Jessica Buterbaugh in the No. 2 doubles contest via an 8-5 score before Kennedy Scott and Brigitte Graf earned a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles which gave Bradley the doubles point.
Graf captured a forfeit win at No. 6 singles as the Braves increased their lead at 2-0 to begin the singles matches. Mayasari then started CSU's run with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Miller at No. 1 singles and Juan Rosalina notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 singles contest over Renegold.
Sophomore Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) earned a win at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Donohoe, while Rubina garnered a 6-1, 6-3 win over Buterbaugh in the No. 4 singles match to clinch the win for the Cougars.
CSU is back in action this Sunday (Feb. 28) with a road match against Drake in Des Moines, Iowa.
