CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's tennis team captured its first victory of the 2010 season after defeating Ball State by a score of 4-3 on Feb. 12 at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet Club in Homewood, Ill.
Sophomores Juan Rosalina Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) and Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia/Taruna Nusa Harapan) opened the match with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Katherine Rist and Kylee Johnson. The Cougars then claimed the doubles point after junior Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) and senior Golda Rubina (Jakarta, Indonesia/Budi Murni) knocked off Georgina Thomson and Dena Boulieris, 8-1, in the No. 2 doubles contest for a 1-0 CSU advantage. The Cardinals earned a forfeit victory at No. 3 doubles.
Johnson later started singles play as she evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over junior Peggy Moore (Toledo, OH/Libbey) at No. 5 singles and Rist captured a forfeit win at No. 6 singles to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Mayasari posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Hayley Hall at No. 1 singles, while Rubina gained a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sarah Hebble at No. 4 singles as CSU regain its leading margin at 3-2.
At No. 3 singles, Juan Rosalia slipped past Thomson by a 7-5, 6-4 score to clinch the match before Bouleris defeated Juan Rosalina in the No. 2 singles match with scores of 6-2 and 7-6 (7) in the finale.
