CHICAGO - Chicago State women's basketball received a career-high 27 points from junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) as it closed out the year 2010 with a 94-84 win over Miami (Ohio) Thursday night at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Cougars hiked their season record to 6-7, while the Redhawks fell to 7-5.
Senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) scored 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and went 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) added 16 points, while senior Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) posted a double-double of 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Courtney Osborn scored a game-high 29 points to lead Miami (Ohio).
The Cougars kick off 2011 in Ames, Iowa this Sunday with a non-conference showdown against nationally-ranked Iowa State with a start time of 2 p.m.
